Historical and family research is unthinkable without mutual assistance. That is why we also collaborate in one way or another with partners and like-minded individuals. A visit there is also worthwhile!
Alemannia Judaica - Working Group for Research into the History of Jews in the South German and Neighboring Regions
The working group for the research of Jewish history, Alemannia Judaica, offers with its ambitious online project extensive information on former and existing Jewish communities and Jewish cemeteries in the South German region. The project has grown to such an extent that communities and cemeteries from other parts of Germany are also represented, including Mecklenburg.
Verdener Familienforscher
The Verdener Familienforscher association is dedicated to genealogy in the greater area of the district of Verden. Unlike usual, its members are also committed to Jewish family research and run several projects for this purpose:
- Documentation of Jewish Cemeteries in the District of Verden and beyond
Starting from existing documentation of Jewish cemeteries in the district of Verden (Lower Saxony), we now also record other corresponding works that have been made available to us. Interestingly, there is a wealth of information about the persons and the cemeteries, but also, for example, about language or the Jewish calendar. - Jewish Family Book of the District of Verden and beyond
The Jewish family book presents genealogies. A special feature: for some persons there is a link "Grave site". This link leads to the cemetery documentation.
Geschichte Hessisch Oldendorf
Website under construction with contributions on the history of a Lower Saxon small town with Schaumburg and Kurhessen heritage -- and its region. The focus is initially on "blank spots" in local history, particularly during the Nazi era. The medium-term goal, however, is to avoid a thematic bias and to find a mix in which, alongside the regional historical reflection of "significant" topics, lighthearted retrospectives in the tradition of an open-minded "Heimatgeschichte" (local history) can also stand.
